Hemmingwood Dam, Brentwood, TN
The dam was originally constructed circa 1991 and has experienced excessive seepage since its construction. In order to control the seepage a barrier a grout curtain was designed. The grout holes extended into and beneath the weathered zones in the underlying bedrock. Terra-Nova Engineering, PLLC performed a subsurface study to determine the required repair options and worked with a specialty contractor to perform the pressure grouting. Terra- Nova Engineering provided field observations and provided on site engineering during the repair.
State Street, Nashville, TN
Provided geotechnical services for the proposed State Street Development. The proposed construction will include a multi-story residential apartment complex and an associated multi-story parking deck. The parking garage will encompass roughly 21,000 square feet in plan area having a below grade construction up to 20 feet below grade.
Jefferson Commons, Louisville, KY
Providing construction materials testing services for the proposed Jefferson Commons. Our services include observation and periodic testing of fill materials to provide stable building pads and pavements. Lime stabilization techniques were employed to enhance the stability of the soil subgrade. On going construction includes the monitoring of concrete placement preparing test cylinders and reporting concrete breaks.
Middletown, Louisville, KY
Providing construction materials testing services for Middletown Development in Louisville, Ky. Our services include observation and periodic testing of fill materials to provide stable building pads and pavements; on-going construction includes the monitoring of concrete placement preparing test cylinders and reporting concrete breaks. Challenges included utilizing existing site materials to provide a stable subgrade.
Caldwell Tanks, Manchester, TN
Terra Nova Engineeering, PLLC, provided geotechnical review and construction material testing services for a proposed water tank. Proposed constructed is to consist of a 500,000 gallon, steel water tank supported by 6 perimeter support columns and a center riser. The base of the structure will measure 50 feet in diameter with the tower structure extending 115 feet. The structure is designed to be supported by individual foundation elements bearing at a depth of 12 feet below grade.
Grande View Apartments, Nashville, TN
Terra-Nova Engineering, PLLC, performed a subsurface analysis to determine the cause of distress at the project site. Subsequently, provided design drawings to stabilize an existing modular block wall. The design included anchor blocks and rock anchors to stabilize the wall and limit its potential to move.
Marriott Hotel, Nashville, TN
The Terra Nova Engineering team provided geotechnical services for the proposed Marriott Hotel. The proposed Marriott hotel will be located within the northeast quadrant of the intersection of Demonbreun Street and Eighth Avenue North across from the new Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The proposed hotel is planned to be 15 stories above grade and will incorporate 3 levels of below grade parking. The geotechnical study assessed the capacity of the underlying bedrock in order to provide foundation support. In addition, the construction will require the excavation in to the bedrock surface. The quality exploration extended into the underlying bedrock in an effort to assess the weathering characteristics with respect to excavating and providing a pre-split face.
